From Remedios, Cuba, to my new home: Bulgaria
My name is Yasmany and my journey began in Cuba, a place rich in culture and color. From the vibrant streets of Havana to the quiet corners of my hometown, I always had an interest in capturing the world around me—though it wasn’t until much later that I found the tool to do so.
The insecurity and horrors of my homeland took me far from there, all the way to Bulgaria, where I settled and started a new chapter in my life. It was here, in the marvelous Bulgaria, that I touched a DSLR camera for the first time. That moment was transformative, but the true calling became tangible through the prayer of pastor Victoria at Awakening Church1 in the city of Sofia. That moment marked the activation of a gift from the Holy Spirit, given to me solely by the unmerited grace of Jesus.
When it comes to inspiration, it is not something I intrinsically have, generate or seek. Instead, it is something I receive. The Holy Spirit presents the world with a specific order and intent. Whether it is the serenity of a horizon or the structure of an urban alley, the scene is revealed as a message that demands to be captured. My role is simply to persist these moments so they remain available for the current generation and the generations to come.
Materializing the Word of God, the intent behind every image is absolutely the same: the name of Jesus to be lifted high and to share the Good News of the Gospel to the world. Thus, the purpose of yamworks.com is not merely to document, but to serve a greater goal: to see lives transformed for the better, contributing to a society that reflects the grace, hope, and love Jesus desired for us and paid the price for.
1In 2026 Awakening Church changed its name to Renaissance Church.
